Feel the power of the mighty Phoenix with these stunning one-of-a-kind earrings that are lightweight, stylish and simply beautiful.  They are each hand-cut into the shape of an elongated triangle, or toki - a powerful symbol of strength and courage for Maori.

The earrings feature hand-made fine-silver earhooks and each one measures approximately 5cm long and 2.5cm deep, hanging roughly 6cm from the earlobe.  Each earring is made from an environmentally friendly bio-resin - a product that utilises up to 40% recycled and waste plant material.  Pieces of recycled wood, sourced from home demolished following the 2011 Christchurch Earthquakes, are embedded in the resin.

About this collection:  The Phoenix

The phoenix rises from the ashes of its destruction and brings forth great wisdom, resilience and powers unseen before. I am forever changed by the trials that I experience and these offer me a beautiful balance between creation and destruction, life and death, growth and stability. I understand that when I am cast into the fires of my life, a little piece of me dies. I am forever transformed and I am offered a choice. I choose to rise up from the ashes of my destruction and bring the wisdom I have with me for the benefit of others. I embrace the challenges that I face. I choose to let go of what I was to fully envelop and accept who I am becoming. I am the phoenix (This collection embraces the power of the phoenix with pieces that are made from the destruction of the 2011 Christchurch Earthquakes, an event that changed me forever and cast me upon the pathwway that would eventually bring me before you as a jewelry designer today)

A very powerful symbol of strength, courage and leadership, the toki (triangle) is symbolic of the axe to the Maori People of New Zealand.  The axe was traditionally used to fight, to show status and to present power, but now is given as a symbol of strength in the face of adversity and bravery.

These beautiful triangle earrings are created from Recycled Rimu wood (native New Zealand timber) embedded in coloured bio-resin. They are a short, delicate acute triangle shape which measures approximately 2 inches (5cm) long and approximately 1 inch (2.5cm) at it’s widest (the base). The earrings are finished with recycled silver handmade bails and handmade sterling silver earhooks,

Your jewelry is available in a range of vibrant colors including multi-color (if you select multi please let me know which colors you prefer and I will do my best to include these in your piece).

**NOTE** as these earrings are made to order each one will be slightly different in terms of the wood size and shape, grain and texture.  In addition, the process of making these pendants results in some bubbles being present in the resin. This is normal and helps to make each piece individual and tell it’s own story.

The wood used in this jewellery is a by-product of my other product manufacturing and is sourced from homes demolished following the 2010-2011 Christchurch Earthquakes. New Zealand Rimu is a beautiful red and honey coloured wood, long prized as the superior building material in this part of the world.

The Rimu chips are embedded into Super-Sap bio-resin; an eco-friendly material with a certified 18% Bio-based content. This bio-resin is produced to help you reduce your carbon footprint.

Super Sap state that “by employing green chemistry techniques that require less energy and produce less harmful byproducts, we reduce the greenhouse gas emissions from production of our resins by 50% over conventional petroleum based epoxies. We replace petroleum based carbon with renewable plant-based carbon. The raw materials going into our resins are co-products or waste products of other industrially important processes. These materials do not compete with food sources or displace food-based agriculture. Using an international standard method of radio carbon dating, we verify the renewable content of the resins so you know exactly where they come from.”

You know that these earrings are produced with eco-friendly, ethical and sustainable materials and processes making it an ideal choice for any one keen to be actively environmentally conscious.
