Honour the place where you stand

Have you ever been to a place and felt a calling? Felt a connection that seemed older than time itself? As if you belonged there, somehow? This is called tūrangawaewae (tu-rung-a-why-why) to my people, the Māori of New Zealand. It translates to “the place where you stand”, the place where your ancestors call you home to. Homecoming is a collection that honours this feeling by creating jewellery directly into the sand and soil from these very places. The pieces take on the texture and the spirit of that place, and they become a vessel for your ancestors and spirits to reside when they visit with you. These pieces are a reminder that we are never far from home, that we belong even when we are far away.

You can select from our range of in-house sands for your piece or you can choose to send in your own special sand for casting your jewellery. Check out our guide on Sand Collection and please get in touch if you have any questions.
