It is a pretty simply philosophy really.

1. Be a conscious consumer – think carefully and considerately about the actions you take in this world.

2. Consume less – ensure that what you do choose to consume is of exceptional quality, will last and, finally…

3. Add Value – do what you can to contribute to the quality of life for present and future generations on this planet.

I am privilaged to live in a really special part of the world. New Zealand is a spectacular landscape, low population, young society that is largely egalitarian and considerate. I say this because I have traveled and lived in places abroad where this is not so.

My Maori ancestory also influences my life and my design/business ethic.  I believe that we have no need to strip the planet or our society of resources for fear of there not being “enough”.  There is plenty of everything for everyone if we make a conscious choice to limit our consumption, share what we have with others, and be forward looking towards what we leave for future generations.

Thank you for coming on this journey with me.  We are likely kindred spirits, you and I.  Let’s share this journey, and shoulder the weight of this adventure, together.

Kia hora te marino kia whakapapa pounamu te moana, kia tere te karohirohi i mua i tou huarahi.
May the calm be widespread, may the ocean glisten as greenstone, may the shimmer of light ever dance across your pathway
