Give Love Get Love this Mother’s Day
I am so very lucky to have my mum in my life on a daily basis. Being a mum myself helps me to understand just what she has done for me over the years, and I am so very grateful. I was actually born on Mother’s Day so it has a double whammy meaning for me.
It is one of the things I value most about my life and my lifestyle – being able to treat my mum to those things she gave up seeing and doing to bring up her family. When I was just 2, mum’s idol Elvis came to New Zealand for the first and only time. I was a very sick child and so there was no way she could leave me to go see Elvis. So on mums 70th birthday I took her to Graceland in Memphis…we drove there is a convertible mustang with the top down and then we toasted life with a wine on the banks of the Mississippi at sunset. Magic
This year I really want you to celebrate the gift of motherhood. We all have different relationships with our mothers and, if we have them, our children too. Some of us have our biological mothers around, some of us don’t. Some of us have mother figures in our lives or friends who are the most awesome mums we know. Some of us fill the role of mother despite our age, stage or gender – I know several dads who are filling the role of mum and dad to their children! And others of us have taken on the role of grandmother, step-mother, aunty, friend…it all counts to the social, emotional, mental and physical well-being of our children!
I am giving away 2 beautiful Aroha pendants, made from 100% recycled silver and stamped with the word Aroha – the Maori word for love. Click on the picture below to add your email address and enter to win a pendant for yourself (or your partner) and one for another amazing mother in your life. The winner will be drawn on Mother’s Day, May 14th at random and winners will be notified by email.
Here’s to Mums everywhere and good luck
