Adorn yourself in feathers!
Celebrate our beautiful native birds, considered by Maori to be the messengers of the Gods themselves, that filled every environmental niche in New Zealand before the arrival of humans.
These beautiful beaded feather earrings represent the sadly extinct Huia. For Maori and European alike, this bird was considered so beautiful that it’s stunning tail feathers were sought after. Sadly, the Huia became extinct after the arrival of Europeans to New Zealand. These earrings remind us that we must take care of all of nature, that we cannot keep consuming with no regard for the outcome. We must take only what we need, and be sure to leave any resource in a better state for our children than what we found for ourselves.
These earrings are individually handcrafted from 2mm glass beads and brass or stainless steel hoops. They measure approximately 7cm long and are finished with stainless steel earhooks.
