These beautiful Matariki Star Map earrings are each hand-cut from your choice of yellow, rose or white 9ct gold.  Each earring is cut in an oval shape measuring approximately 1.5cm across and 3cm long. They come with a your choice of handmade gold earhooks, or a gold stud finishing.

Each Matariki Star Map earring features a delicate map of the stars.  Each star is drilled by hand with hand sawed star-trails.  The earrings are gently domed and finished with a beautiful matt brushed surface.

These earrings represent the star (and constellation) Matariki or Pleiades. In many indigenous cultures world-wide, the constellation Pleiades is important. Matariki signifies the beginning of the Māori New Year when it rises above the horizon at dawn in mid-winter. It is a time of reflection about the year past, preparation for the year ahead, and a chance to celebrate the value of friends, family and community.
